In this minor project, students worked on developing an autonomous vehicle that can independently carry out agricultural tasks. The application of Ackermann steering ensures a realistic and agile driving experience, comparable to that of a car. The goal was to design an autonomous implement carrier for small-scale, organic farmers, with applications such as sowing, hoeing, or fertilising – all without human intervention.
What has been realised?
The students have developed an almost fully functional autonomous implement carrier. The vehicle uses sensors and smart software to navigate independently and carry out agricultural tasks. Although GPS integration is still missing, the current result forms a solid basis on which a subsequent minor group can build. A powerful step towards the agriculture of the future!
What have they learned?
The project group has learned how autonomous vehicles can be deployed within the agricultural sector. They have gained experience in vehicle control, sensor technology, software development, and system integration. Additionally, they have gained insight into the challenges of precision agriculture and how technology can contribute to sustainable and efficient food production.
