Project information

In this project, software has been developed to allow a robot to operate safely without guarding, so that people can approach the robot without the robot touching them. The aim of this project is to make more efficient use of space in factories (guarding fences take up a lot of space). An additional aspiration is better collaboration between the robot and humans.

What has been realised?

In the project, a working prototype has been developed utilising multiple cameras. The cameras provide the algorithm with information about the location of objects/people in the space. This allows the robot to move around people while continuing its work. The people in the space are visualised in an online 3D environment to control the robot.

What has been learned?

One of the biggest challenges within the project was to merge multiple camera images into a 3D model. With this model, the students could concretise the broad issue in order to develop a product from there.
