Project information
In this project, autonomous navigation software has been developed for an inspection robot. An inspection robot is used in potentially explosive environments to inspect installations for defects. By implementing autonomous inspection, dangerous situations are prevented and the costs of inspections can be reduced.
What has been realised?
Various sensors have been used in the project to detect information from the environment. This information (such as obstacles in the space and the location of machines) is then made visible to the operator on a floor plan.
The developed navigation software ensures that the robot can generate a route using sensor input and follow this route, with the robot autonomously navigating around obstacles.

What has been learned?
The project group has learned what is needed to make a robot navigate autonomously. In addition, knowledge was primarily gained about collaborating in a team and with a client. Questions such as ‘How do you deal with changes within your project’ and ‘How do you communicate with the client’ were addressed.
