Project information

In this project, a robot has been developed to clear roadside waste along motorways. A corrective clean-up method to keep the verges tidy, in the hope that this will also have a preventive effect, discouraging people from throwing waste out of their car windows.

What has been realised?

In the project, a prototype in the form of a robot has been developed that can remove waste from the roadside. The robot can be remotely controlled by an operator to clean up waste. In this phase of the project, the emphasis has been placed on realising a waste-picking mechanism. The operation of the concept has been proven by conducting tests with the robot.

What have they learned?

The project group has learned how to manage projects and provide financial structuring for a project. In addition, the students have learned how a product can be developed from the drawing board to a prototype. An educational experience in which all facets of a mechatronic system are highlighted.
