Trabotyx, a manufacturer of robotic weeders, and biodynamic farm Meulwaeter are joining forces to further automate manual weeding. In a previous collaboration, Trabotyx already weeded 2 hectares autonomously at Meulwaeter in 2023, but with limited success. Now, with the help of knowledge institutions, they want to take a step forward.
Purpose
The project aims to improve the technology and operation of the weeding robot, with a view to increasing its efficiency and effectiveness. The specific objectives include removing weeds, including grassy varieties, at a rate of over 70%, improving the removal mechanism, integrating the weeding system into standard implements, increasing the travel speed without compromising the removal rate, optimising the weeding timing in collaboration with growers, exchanging experiences with colleagues such as Odd.Bot, and expanding the scope of application to different crops. In addition, growers from the Netherlands and Flanders are invited to see the robot in action, with the aim of increasing the acceptance and applicability of weed-control robots.
