In this project, a medical cabinet has been automated. This is to relieve nursing hospital staff of the burden of searching for practical items, such as injection needles, dressings, or nasal clips. This allows nurses to have more time and attention for the patient.
What has been realised?
Within the project, an app has been developed that is linked to a cabinet where items are stored. In the app, the nurse can select an item. The app then sends a signal to the cabinet, causing the cabinet containing the item to open. This allows the nurse to find the desired item within seconds without searching.
What has been learned?
The project group consisted of people from technical and people-oriented studies. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, the students learned to communicate and work together effectively and easily. In addition, the group learned that a clear problem statement is important for providing direction to the project.
